Guilo's Recruiting Tips

The NRN is an excellent fleet. It is not difficult at all to recruit for NRN. In fact, I have quickly accumulated many recruits to my record. I have been asked, what's your secret to recruiting? First of all, I have worked in sales for a good part of my life and have learned, to an extent, the art of persuasion. But, let me tell you simple hints that I've learned.
1) Get personal; be nice. It's ok to be friendly. People like nice people. Even someone who initially gives you a cold shoulder will open up to you if you are friendly. Above all, never, ever be rude. You are representing the NRN, Fleet Admiral Das, all the Admiralty, every squad, and every member of the New Republic Navy. Keep a good face for us.

2) When you are recruiting someone, don't appear to be a recruiter. If you contact someone, do it one-on-one. Try to make it personal. Every conversation I have starts out: How's it going? Then, it proceeds to step two. I never mention joining our fleet. If you can relate to the person, they are going to be more open to you. Some people don't want to talk to you if you are a recruiter, so I'm not - I'm a friend who wants something - to recruit.

3) Find a common interest. A common interest could be the game, or it could be football. It is easier to lead the conversation if you try to keep the conversation about the game.

4) Cleverly introduce them to the idea of joining NRN. Once you have figured out a little bit about the person and know some of their history, try to introduce them to our Fleet. If it doesn't seem like an oppurtune comes, it's ok. You don't necessarily need to tell them right now. Be do befriend them and tell them at some point.

5) Never Argue! If you want something (which you to do), it is easier to get it by agreeing. I talked to one guy who had clearly lied to me, but don't point that out. It's not worth it, and now the kid is an active member of NRN.

6) Don't push it. If someone says they are not interested, let them be not interested. Suggest that they visit the NRN website, add them to zone friends, and then challenge him or something. Wait for another opportunity to arise in the conversation or later on.

7) Don't let a fish off the hook. If you see that there is even 0.01% possibility of the person you are recruiting joining NRN, don't let him/her get away without finding a way to contact them later. At least add them to your friends on the Zone.

8) Don't forget to tell them about the benefits of NRN. That, in the end, will be what sells someone to the idea of joining NRN. Persuasively tell them what they want to hear. :) But be honest The idea that NRN is doing excellent on BSC works to our advantage. Keep that in mind.

If you have any questions, I would be more than happy to try to help. Or, if you think of something i haven't, please inform me and sign my guest book. Also, try to inflitrate the games other than X-wing Alliance.
