mIRC Tutorial - by Colt

Courtesy of Colt, this tutorial is designed to guide recruits through the process of setting up the mIRC chat program.
The NRN uses this chat program as the environment for our weekly meetings. NRN members are asked to attend 3 meetings per month. Contact you Commanding Officer (CO) if you are going to miss a meeting.

Current NRN news is presented at the meetings, as well as all awards and promotions. Meetings are held every Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time. They normally last for one hour.

1. First, download and install the mIRC program from http://www.mirc.com/get.html.

2. Now open the mIRC program. The first screen you will see is one with a little picture of the author in the upper right corner.
It is not necessary to register. Click the 'X' instead. Use the following example as a guide (click to enlarge).

3. In the 'IRC Network' list, select 'All'. From the box just below that, select 'Gamesnet: Random east or west US server',
depending on where you are. Enter your own data in the other fields. *note: The name you put in 'Nickname'
will be the name that appears in the chatroom. Next, click 'Connect to IRC Server'.
Use the following example as a guide (click to enlarge).

4. On the next screen, enter '#nrn' in the space provided. Welcome the the NRN chatroom! Use the following example as a
guide (click to enlarge).
